Residents of Howard County, Maryland, will come together to discuss issues facing their community as part of the Courageous Conversations series.

Presented by Howard County Faith Communities, these dialogues will provide participants with the opportunity to engage in honest, civil conversations about race and religious bias. The project asks residents, “How do we work towards creating a connected community of different people rather than a community that lets different people in?”

Howard County Faith Communities is partnering with Essential Partners for the second year to produce Courageous Conversations. In 2018, hundreds of residents came together for the program’s initial conversation series.

Open to the public, Courageous Conversations begins March 11 with a kick-off event at St. John Baptist Church in Columbia, MD and continues each Tuesday night from March 19 – April 9 with small conversation circles held at Beth Shalom Congregation, Dar Al-Taqwa Islamic Center, and St. John Baptist Church. Discussion circles will include members of more than a dozen faith communities and local residents. The series will conclude with a large wrap-up event on April 15, featuring Representative Elijah Cummings.

A writer, translator, and editor, Daniel Pritchard serves as the Director of Marketing and Communications for Essential Partners.
